Today I Am Thankful!

I am thankful for so much this year. This has been an eye-opening season for me to truly appreciate my parents and be thankful for them. With both of them battling cancer and going through radiation treatments every day, I cherish every moment I have with them now. Each morning they get up and go to Daddy's radiation treatment, grab some lunch and head to Mom's treatments. God Is Good, All The Time and I know they will both be ok. Thank you Jesus for my mom and dad and blessing me with such special parents!

I am trying to teach Chayse the importance of being thankful and appreciating the small things in life.  There has been a tree on the wall at the Y for a little while that I wasn't for sure what it was for. Last night when we walked in, it had been fininshed and was called the "Tree Of Thanks" and there were blank leaves for people to fill out and tape to the tree. Before I could even suggest it to Chayse, he was headed to the table and was grabbing a pen.

On the way in, this is what he put on the wall...made my heart smile

and on the way out he stopped again to add this.
(notice the added touch w/the heart)

I Love You Mommy! Good Night...

and that was the last time Chayse ever called me Mommy. Overnight he decided to call me Mom and that is what it has been ever since. Even though he is growing up, my baby he will always be!

WildLife Expo and the Fair

What a weekend! Saturday we went to the WildLife Expo at the Lazy E with my dad and then Sunday Chayse & I spent all day at the fair. It was so pretty outside that we just walked around all day. It was some great quality time for us.

Learning how to throw a net

took a few trys but he finally figured it out

casting techniques

Reeling in a heavy fish...papa had to talk him through it

He was so excited to be on the big screen that I had to take a picture of it. :)

Getting ready to kayak with a goofy smile

getting in...he said that was the scariest part of it all

going the wrong direction

Diets, Diets, Diets

So, as most of you know I have been doing the HCG diet and it is not as easy as some people think! I'm down 22#'s and the scales have stopped moving. I originally wasn't going to post about my weight loss journey but my lifecoach has really, really been pressuring me to journal somewhere so I would just prefer to do it all in one place! Maybe I can pick and choose what I want to print when I order it in a book, especially the one I print for Chayse.

It has taken me 7 months to actually change my lifestyle so that working out every day is a normal part of my day. I have given up all my extracurricular activities to focus on the gym and I have done well! I seriously work out about 2 hrs a night 6 days a week and I can't stand it if I don't get to go for some reason. Now... the doctor has suggested that I stop working out temporarily so that I can eat only 500 calories and I just can't do that! I do not want to lose the weight to turn around and put it right back on. Through this HCG doctor I have found out that my thyroid is not doing much at all so to stop working out will not be good for me in the long run. I have worked too hard to get here to stop now so I am taking a break from the HCG and trying South Beach for 30 days.  Hopefully I can get the scales to move and then just need to use the HCG every other month to get rid of the "hard to reach" fat. Wish me luck! :)

For those of you wondering...I have not deprived Chayse of anything by spending so much time at the gym in the evenings. He loves to go and work out himself. I don't let him do much on the weights...not yet anyway but he has made a tremendous amount of friends there and they play basketball and football almost every night. He is playing sports and I let him make the decision and he has decided to play all of his sports with the Y league so.... for me that is great! I have considered "upward basketball" and then he also has a T-ball competitive league he has played in but unless he changes his mind, we will stick with the Y league. That way I can work out while he practices! Yea!!

A: hang on a sec, Beck
C: you aren't suppose to have sex until you are married!!
A: I know son, momma messed up
B: Do Not Laugh! (while she is cracking up on the other end)

( i did not laugh btw!) I'm worried about what is going on in his head!!

What Next???

All you girls have something you call it when your kids say funny stuff (ex: jacksonism's) but I can't seem to come up with anything unique for Chayse so I'll keep thinking about that. Last night at the Y, he pretty much had me speechless...and I mean speechless!! When we first get there he always wants to do some weights on the kids machines so last night he runs and jumps on the very first machine that is right by the opening to the weight room for the adults. (I have to give you a little bit of important info here...

1) Chayse is only 6 yrs old and just starting 1st grade
2) He runs, doesn't walk, does not know how to talk quietly and everything is very dramatic to him. He uses a lot of expression.
3) There are two grown men standing beside the towels talking and watching Chayse lift and can hear everything going on between Chayse and I along with whoever else is in the area. It was packed in there.

Chayse is really intense on this machine and then he just stops and looks at me with the most sincere look and loudly says...

"mommy, do you get pregnant from having sex?"

(I just stare at him wondering what in the world do I say as I see the two men trying not to laugh)
"Well".... (long pause) "yes, son, you do".
Chayse: "How did YOU get pregnant?"
(the one man actually laughs and has to walk off)
Me: "Can we talk about this later?"
Chayse: (with his head tilted and his eyes open wide looking at me like "don't lie to me because I already know" very loudly says..."mommmyyyy"

Why did I feel like I was in trouble???? ;) I will leave it at that because I am still trying to figure out what and when I tell him this stuff or if I should let his daddy tell him.

Dear Lord, why can't he just be curious about cars and trucks and spiders and all that stuff!!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Then an an hour later I go to the gym to check on him and he is playing dodgeball with about 10 other boys of all different ages. He takes a break to have this bit of conversation with me.

A: Having fun?
C: Yes, but that dude hit me in the nuts with the ball and it hurt so bad!
A: Are you ok?
C: Yah, I wanted to cry though but I didn't.
A: I think you will be ok.
C: I checked. They are ok.
A: Did you go to the bathroom?
C: No, I just pulled it out over there and looked!

Good Grief!! Right there in front of everyone he just pulls out his personal property and checks it out!!

Breakfast In Bed

So Chayse wakes me up this morning about 7:15am to bring me breakfast in bed. He was so excited and so sweet. I was anxious to see what he had made me....

I'm upset that I didn't take a picture. He had taken a bagel and tore it into pieces in a bowl and added some onion (GAG) from the garden that him and his papa have been growing all summer. (garden post will be put on here eventually) I was like.."Ohhhhh...thank you so much" while thinking must put in trash asap! Except that Chayse decided to lay beside me in bed to watch me eat the wonderful breakfast he had created for me!

(I did manage to NOT eat the onion for breakfast but he does not know that)  :)

Conversation with Chayse...

Chayse: Mommy, did you want a boy or a girl?
Me: a boy, of course! They are the best...they protect their mommies!
Chayse: hmmmm
Me: (just looking at him a little puzzled...wondering where this is headed)
Chayse: Girls are so nice and stuff and boys...We are like Rock N Roll!

I was too afraid to ask what his definition of rock n roll is!!

Some days just aren't so good...

Carol called me about 4:30 Friday afternoon to tell me she was headed back to the hospital. I met her at the emergency room  right after 5:00. Grandpa was not good. He was coherent enough to know we were there. He would move his legs, squeeze your hand and when his strength was good, he would try to pull out his breathing tube. When Greg arrived, he did try to open his eyes a couple of times. About 10:00pm Chayse called me to make sure he could come see Grandpa the next day. It was so hard to try to explain to him that "he could as long as Grandpa made it through the night". Grandpa passed away close to midnight. It was extrememly hard seeing them doing chest compressions. There were so many nurses and doctors working on him. They tried for 30 minutes. He was a fighter and he didn't go without a fight, that's for sure. When he was diagnosed with Lukemia a little over a month ago, he fought the fight! We could always count on a laugh with Grandpa. We will miss him very much but we also know he is in a better place and no longer in pain. We will see him again in heaven!!

Fathers Day Weekend

We had a great weekend. Saturday Chayse had his final day of VBS and then we took my dad to lunch for Father's Day. Daddy wanted to go Saturday instead of Sunday because of the crowds. As we are finishing lunch, Chayse looks at his Papa and asks him to go with us to see his daddy. I was much surprised because we hadn't planned on seeing him this weekend due to some different circumstances. I told Chayse we weren't going and he was devastated! He had his mind made up and he was seeing his daddy for Father's Day. Needless to say, we went home and loaded up and headed to the panhandle. Later that night as Chayse and I are driving around looking for something to eat, he looks at me and we have this bit of conversation that went something like this...

Chayse: "moma, you just had to come see Daddy for Father's Day and now it is making me have to come see him too!"
Me: "whaattttt???" (I am pretty much speechless)
Chayse: "yah, because you wanted to see him, now I have too."
Me: " I don't really think that is how it  happened."

Inside I am cracking up at Chayse and how he has completely turned the entire incident around. I don't get upset because I do know how much he loves his daddy and wanted to see him. So, we spent Sunday morning with Tadd and had a good time. Chayse was able to get some baseball practice in with his daddy and he just craves that...so that was good for us all. Around lunch time we loaded up and headed back for our nice long 4 hr drive! We didn't stay long but Chayse and Tadd had some great quality time.

Here is a funny for ya. We stop in Woodward to go to the restroom and grab a bite to eat and it goes something like this...

Me: "Chayse, honey, if your pee is really yellow, it means you need to drink more water".
Chayse: "uh huh" (shaking his head no)
Me: "yes, I had a kidney dr also when I was little and he is the one that taught me that."
Chayse: "you don't have kidneys"
Me: "yes, everyone has kidneys"
Chayse: "Then...where is your weinee????"

I couldn't quit laughing!! I guess because his dr always checks his weinee with his kidneys, he thinks your kidneys are in your weinee or somethin!!

Happy Fathers Day to all the special guys in my life!

Dang! It's been a while...

since I have posted anything at all! :( I have started several posts but never finished them so maybe this weekend I will have some time to go back and finish them and get them posted.  I have just been so crazy busy! All day, every day!! We have Tball and a birthday party on Saturday and a birthday party and RA's on Sunday so we will see. Plus I have started selling some amazing bedding and linens and that is keeping me pretty tied up in the evenings and weekends and now Chayse has started TBall again and that is an every night kind of thing so hopefully I can get caught up in the next week or so. I guess I am finally seeing what my friends have talked about when they say how busy they are. I can't imagine having more than one kid! :) Keeping up with him and working 2 1/2 jobs (half is my mary kay that I do part-time) I am seriously going to have to use a planner everyday!  Have a great Friday!!
