Some days just aren't so good...

Carol called me about 4:30 Friday afternoon to tell me she was headed back to the hospital. I met her at the emergency room  right after 5:00. Grandpa was not good. He was coherent enough to know we were there. He would move his legs, squeeze your hand and when his strength was good, he would try to pull out his breathing tube. When Greg arrived, he did try to open his eyes a couple of times. About 10:00pm Chayse called me to make sure he could come see Grandpa the next day. It was so hard to try to explain to him that "he could as long as Grandpa made it through the night". Grandpa passed away close to midnight. It was extrememly hard seeing them doing chest compressions. There were so many nurses and doctors working on him. They tried for 30 minutes. He was a fighter and he didn't go without a fight, that's for sure. When he was diagnosed with Lukemia a little over a month ago, he fought the fight! We could always count on a laugh with Grandpa. We will miss him very much but we also know he is in a better place and no longer in pain. We will see him again in heaven!!

Fathers Day Weekend

We had a great weekend. Saturday Chayse had his final day of VBS and then we took my dad to lunch for Father's Day. Daddy wanted to go Saturday instead of Sunday because of the crowds. As we are finishing lunch, Chayse looks at his Papa and asks him to go with us to see his daddy. I was much surprised because we hadn't planned on seeing him this weekend due to some different circumstances. I told Chayse we weren't going and he was devastated! He had his mind made up and he was seeing his daddy for Father's Day. Needless to say, we went home and loaded up and headed to the panhandle. Later that night as Chayse and I are driving around looking for something to eat, he looks at me and we have this bit of conversation that went something like this...

Chayse: "moma, you just had to come see Daddy for Father's Day and now it is making me have to come see him too!"
Me: "whaattttt???" (I am pretty much speechless)
Chayse: "yah, because you wanted to see him, now I have too."
Me: " I don't really think that is how it  happened."

Inside I am cracking up at Chayse and how he has completely turned the entire incident around. I don't get upset because I do know how much he loves his daddy and wanted to see him. So, we spent Sunday morning with Tadd and had a good time. Chayse was able to get some baseball practice in with his daddy and he just craves that...so that was good for us all. Around lunch time we loaded up and headed back for our nice long 4 hr drive! We didn't stay long but Chayse and Tadd had some great quality time.

Here is a funny for ya. We stop in Woodward to go to the restroom and grab a bite to eat and it goes something like this...

Me: "Chayse, honey, if your pee is really yellow, it means you need to drink more water".
Chayse: "uh huh" (shaking his head no)
Me: "yes, I had a kidney dr also when I was little and he is the one that taught me that."
Chayse: "you don't have kidneys"
Me: "yes, everyone has kidneys"
Chayse: "Then...where is your weinee????"

I couldn't quit laughing!! I guess because his dr always checks his weinee with his kidneys, he thinks your kidneys are in your weinee or somethin!!

Happy Fathers Day to all the special guys in my life!
